BIOGRAPHY
Brian Bergeron is an acoustic singer/songwriter based out of Boston. Though only twenty-two, he has accomplished much in the Boston music scene. As an independent artist, Bergeron has used the last two years to build his reputation in the Northeast by performing over 200 shows in coffee shops, colleges and clubs. As he constantly releases new material, the press has become increasingly enamored with his artistic maturity. Boston's Metronome Magazine raved, "Brian Bergeron is a young musician with a very promising musical career ahead of him. He evokes emotion and passion with every song he performs."
Bergeron’s backing band, The Late Greats, have helped to put his career on the fast track. Their sound that is best described as acoustic rock infused with elements of pop, folk and alt-country. They have been most often compared to pre-eminent artists such as Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, and John Mayer. Their live shows – including performances at Boston's prestigious Paradise Rock Club, Paradise Lounge and Club Passim - put as much stress on the nuances of Bergeron's introspective songwriting as on creating a fun atmosphere. This mood has positioned Bergeron to share the stage with touring acts such as Matt Nathanson, The Pat McGee Band, Stephen Kellogg and The Sixers, and Josh Kelley, and has allowed him to support other acts such as Live and Collective Soul.
For the last two years, Brian has been one of the highlights for visitors at Faneuil Hall—a Boston landmark and summertime hot spot—spending long days busking on the street and honing his repertoire. This opportunity has helped him move hundreds of CD’s a month and has exposed him to a national and international audience, planting the seeds for the inevitable time when he begins to spread out of a local and regional level.
At the end of February Brian released “The Glory EP”, recorded locally at New Alliance Studios in Cambridge, showcasing the quick growth of this young band. The CD slides flawlessly from Americana to folk-pop to pop rock and was deftly recorded by up-and-coming local producers Mike Davidson and Alex Giorgetti and is sure to serve as a calling card for Bergeron, who is primed to begin recording his debut full-length in the fall of 2008.
Other recent highlights include performing in the finals of OurStage.com’s College Clash and Qdoba’s Rice and Beanpot Battle of the Bands, which both featured New England’s best college bands and a showcase slot in the first ever Verge College Music Conference. Additionally, Bergeron was chosen as a semi-finalist in the third annual Starbucks Music Makers Competition. With a quickly building resume, it will be interesting to watch the strides that Brian Bergeron and The Late Greats make over the next year.
